Clinic Examples

How These Clinics Were Selected

This section is a compilation of best practice facilities that serve as examples to those involved in designing new or renovated community clinics and health centers. Click on each thumbnail to view the case study. The original clinics selected in 2008 were based on a project funded by the California HealthCare Foundation to understand innovative design solutions found in Community Clinic Design. The physical environment features and community attributes of safety-net facilities throughout the United States were examined through on-site visits and/or telephone-interviews with the Primary Care Clinic's CEOs, clinic managers, facility managers, and board members. Many of the facilities vary in size, services offered, and the type of setting in which they occur (rural, suburban, and urban).
