Overview

The Waiting Areas module provides you with the ability to consider certain positive distraction elements in the design of the waiting areas for patients. Although these waiting area elements do not produce immediate financial benefits, research has tied these positive distraction elements with reduced levels of patient anxiety and perception of shorter waiting times.

This module helps the clinic designer answer questions concerning the costs of integrating one or more of the common positive distraction elements into the clinic design. Example products and services are shared. Net present value has greater value when considering the total benefits and costs across all four of the tool's modules. On its own, the waiting areas module will produce negative NPVs that should be offset by positive NPVs from the green and/or patient care areas module.
