An Evidence-Based Approach to Healthcare Art, will be presented by Upali Nanda, PhD, Assoc. AIA, EDAC, on Thursday, June 9, 1:00 p.m. CST.
This presentation provides an overview of the evidence on the impact of art on health and operational outcomes for hospitals. Presenters will share the opportunities and challenges of an evidence-based approach by reviewing a case-study of an evidence-based art program with its post-occupancy evaluation. Current research available will be discussed, and will also explore the uncharted territories where more information is needed. While reviewing the research studies conducted in-house, there will be an emphasis on specific factors of the research design, including human compliance issues and overcoming logistical challenges. Finally, the critical need of a collaborative model to practice evidence-based design and conduct meaningful research will be discussed.
