A total of 13 submissions have been received for the New Investigator Award, with entries from students from Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, and Penn State. Created by The Center for Health Design’s Research Coalition, the award focuses on students who are conducting research on increasing patient safety, satisfaction, and quality of care, as well as increasing worker safety and effectiveness through environmental design. The point of the award is to recognize emerging leaders and talent in the field of healthcare facility design research.
Entries covered topics such as green building design, nursing unit configuration, and emergency department design. The winning student will be given $3,000, designated as a “New Investigator Fellow” and provided a senior researcher mentor for one year. Two honorable mention awards of $1,000 each will also be given.
The winner and honorable mention will be announced at HEALTHCARE DESIGN.11 in Nashville, November 13-15.
